I am not purging, but my skin is very oily. What can I do?

For people that are prone to acne, purging is a possible side effect that can arise from using a retinoid.

When you start using a retinoid for the first time, you skin will start contracting which can make your oil glands go into overdrive which is pushed to the surface. Most people will try to control that oil by applying toners and astringent which will cause a rebound effect. Your best bet is to simply wipe your skin with a tissue to keep from looking shiney.

Over time your skin's oil production will normalize and your skin should look normal.

Next question we get is, "how long will it take"? It depends on your skin type, seasons, the alignment with mars to jupiter. I wish there was a stock answer, but it can take a few days to a few weeks.
